Why do I never write my reviews on time? It’s been a month or so since I read Chain of Gold, but with the awesome characters and gorgeous world, you just can’t forget this story.
For those who don’t know, The Last Hours series is set after The Infernal Devices and is about James Herondale. These Herondale men, they just keep showing up, running from ducks and breaking our hearts.
But James, half-warlock/half-shadowhunter is haunted by his warlock half. He keeps slipping in and out of a shadow world. Meanwhile, shadowhunters are being attacked by impossible demons all over London. And then his secret girlfriend shows up and his sister’s future parabatai joins them. Because this is Cassie and if we didn’t have a love triangle then what would we do?!
So James tries to stop the demon attacks along with his Merry Thieves. And the gang is ADORABLE. Lucy Herondale, his younger sister and all around badass. Lucy is hilarious and I adore how she is always just On It. Matthew Fairchild MY LOVE, James’s parabatai, and our resident libertine. I have a huge soft-spot for Matthew and I am incredibly worried about him. Cordelia is Lucy’s future parabatai and super-shadowhunter extraordinaire. Also, obsessively in love with James Herondale because she likes them emo. Then we have Thomas and Christopher Lightwood, the giant and the scientist. I adore them both.
Clare’s writing just keeps getting better and i’m so excited to see what is in store for our gang in the next few books. I can’t say that this is my favorite series so far because my heart is still in The Dark Artifices, but I really enjoyed this book and feel like it will be just as heartbreaking as the others!
Shout out to Anna Lightwood, who is the actual hero of this story. I need a series on her and Magnus actually running the world thanks.
