Review

I don’t know what feelings are. These books are just so confusing. Maybe I will let Juliette put it into words you can understand.

My fists are full of unlucky pennies and my heart is a jukebox demanding a few nickels and my head is flipping quarters heads or tails heads or tails heads or tails.

Totally understand me now right?

Some of the spoilery things were what irritated me most so I won’t lay all of that out here. But here are my lists because I don’t know how to coherently write about a book that is barely coherent itself.

Things I liked

Juliette became a badass and had me screaming YAASS GET IT! Turns out that once our girl snapped out of her haze, she is amazing. I absolutely loved her sass and I don’t think she owes anyone an apology. Especially you LAMP.

Kenji and his hilarious commentary. Once again, Kenji saved us with his snark.

Teenagers actually acting like teenagers! The angst is so real in these books and it’s fitting. Every relationship is the end of life until it isn’t and the next one becomes the end all, be all.

James is adorable. I love this little boy and I just want to reach in and hug him. But seriously, he gives the book levity and Adam a real purpose. I can buy the family line so much easier than the girl he just met. James ups the stakes for everyone because we need his pure little soul to make it.

Warner’s secrets. Still on the fence about this guy. I LOVE that he is mysterious and complicated, but… still a little bit stalker. Thankfully, Juliette is becoming a stronger and more independent person so she can handle and put a stop to the stalker aspect of Warner’s whole deal.

Juliette being thirsty AF. No girl has needed a release more than Juliette. I just feel so bad for her because she honestly just wants to be a fuckboy, but all of these boys want to wife her up! Let the girl live!!!

Thinks that made my head explode

Everything to do with Adam a.k.a. Lamp. I wasn’t a huge fan of Adam in book 1, mostly because I don’t buy his whole “I have loved you forever” line. He needs to stop with the possessiveness and maybe TALK TO HER. I was just never sold on him so I’m not sad that they break up like 80 times.

Thinking Juliette is awesome just for another off the wall weird ass comment to come up. I swear, just when I decide to like her, she says something about pennies and jukeboxes and I want to pull my hair out. I appreciate that she hasn’t been out of the facility long, so she is still coping, but the flowery language still annoys me.

Castle being a super judgey asshole. I do not like him. I do not like him at all. I don’t see how her being super nice and friendly is a requirement and I don’t appreciate Castle forcing apart from the one person she actually knows. You can’t just break a girl free from an asylum and then wonder why she isn’t besties with all the people. Fuck off Castle.

The super tropey Adam/Warner connection. YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN.
