How are we already halfway through January? Wasn’t it just Christmas like yesterday? This was actually a week from hell for me and I just want to say a quick thank you to everyone who was supportive and reached out. I let my anxiety off of it’s leash and am trying to wrestle it back on.
2020 Goals
My goals are to get through my owned TBR and only buy 1 book per 5 owned I have read. So far, there have been no purchases. Not even a pre-order!
As far as reading goals… slowly chipping away.
What I’m Reading
Aurora Rising by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. Finally, it’s happening. I have been sitting on this book for almost a year because the hype freaked me out. I loved their last series The Illuminae Files and was a little worried that this may fall short for me, due to said hype. But, I sat down with it last night and when I looked up, I was 165 pages deep. So I think I’m going to finish fast and add to my loves!
Tales From the Shadowhunter Academy by Cassandra Clare and other authors. I’m actually listening to the audio on this one. I’ll be honest, I can’t stand Simon, so it’s a struggle, but I know I need the information in this one for Chain of Gold so I’m going to push on through.
What I Finished
A Heart So Fierce and Broken didn’t disappoint me as much as I thought it would. I have a full review linked at the bottom of this post, but honestly, the second half kind of brought things around for me. The first half was confusing to say the least, but i’m excited and ready for the third book.
Let me count the ways I love Magnus Bane. I can’t, it’s too many. How have I been sitting on this hilarious collection of stories??? This was adorable and fantastic and should come with a glitter envelope. I need more Ragnor and Raphael banter please!
New Books
I did get two e-arcs this week. I know, it’s bad. But I needed the second part of Nightchaser and The Raven and the Dove’s cover is just too pretty to ignore. I mean LOOK AT IT. I know I shouldn’t shop by covers, but I had to.
This Week’s Favorite Things
I am loving the colored pen set that I got for my planner. When I feel anxiety starting, I start planning and organizing everything in my life. It calms me, so pretty pens help.
For some reason, I started listening to a focus instrumental-type playlist when I’m writing or working and it’s nice to have the ambient noise blocking out the other stuff. For example, this morning my husband turned on the tv loud and then was watching youtube on his phone even louder. We are going to have rules about this soon…
Last Week on the Blog
I reviewed two advanced copies this week, A Heart So Fierce and Broken and Woven in Moonlight.
My Christmas 2019 Book Haul is finally up and I talked about the Books I Can’t Wait to Read in 2020.
I’m so happy that you picked up Aroura Rising! I loved it and hope you do as well!
