Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
The rules are simple:
- Each Tuesday, Jana assigns a new topic. Create your own Top Ten list that fits that topic – putting your unique spin on it if you want.
- Everyone is welcome to join but please link back to The Artsy Reader Girl in your own Top Ten Tuesday post.
- Add your name to the Linky widget on that day’s post so that everyone can check out other bloggers’ lists.
- Or if you don’t have a blog, just post your answers as a comment.
I have read way too many books to have purchased them all. Honestly, I try to make good use of my library because books are expensive when you have an extensive collection. And they are hard to move, which I have done a lot of in the last 10 years. Without further ado, here are some books that I actually need to buy and why I haven’t yet.
Daughter of Smoke and Bone series – I bought these on kindle, so I do own them and reread fairly often. This is one of my favorite series, but I don’t like duplicates so it’s hard to justify buying a book twice.
Crown of Midnight, Heir of Fire and Queen of Shadows – Same issue here. I have slowly been trying to buy this series in hardback because it’s my absolute favorite. I have them all in kindle, but I really want them to grace my shelves.
The Raven Cycle – Yet another series I own on kindle. I find myself wishing I had gotten them in paperback because they are so pretty!
Harry Potter series – okay, I have all of the original hardbacks, but they are at my parents’ house in New Mexico and I haven’t been able to get them home with me… I’m sad to think they are just in a box in a dusty garage.
American Predator – I received an ARC of this book and it blew my mind. I need to buy it and I have no excuse for not having done so yet.
Daisy Jones and the Six – I used an audible credit on this one and I would suggest the audio to anyone who likes audio books because FULL CAST. That said, I think it has a gorgeous cover and belongs on coffee tables everywhere.
The Song of Achilles – Crying just thinking about this one. The only reason I have for not buying it is that I don’t love the cover. Which is a terrible reason, I know.
Red Rising – I have been in a 5 month paper v hardback war with myself on these. I love hardback, but they take up a ton of room. BUT, the series isn’t finished and I hate to mix-and-match paper & hardback.
An Ember in the Ashes – The cover change has kept me from getting these. Now with the special edition of #1, I could be convinced. But then, if they don’t recover torch you have an even worse mismatch… Annoying.
The Night Circus – I have no good excuse and I need to get this.

I have the paperback on my shelves and can’t even come up with an excuse as to why I haven’t read it.

I have an issue with owning duplicates too, but when it comes to e-book and physical copies I have no qualms in owning both. If I start reading book on my kindle and it becomes a firm favourite of mine, I like to have that physical copy to look at and feel in my hands. It also means that if my kindle breaks, I have the physical copy to re-read when I want it. Secondly, if the physical copy of my current read is quite chunky and I want to read it whilst travelling, I’ll download it to my kindle so I’m not carrying around valuable weight and it doesn’t get damaged.

I feel that way as well. I don’t love buying a book twice, but I love having a physical and portable version!

Ah yes, it’s bad when covers don’t match…cover art wise AND hardcover vs paperback! It’s annoying, but I’ll admit I did buy the paperbacks just to have the “sense” of matching…and Sabaa was at my bookstore for the last book, so it was a win-win! Lol.
Here’s my Tuesday Post
Have a GREAT day!

I might buy the paperbacks just to match them. I’m so jealous you got to see her!

omg I feel all of this so hard. I hate mismatched covers in a series and also hate having a series in half paperback and half hardcover, and this is the case for like MOST of my physical books ugh
