Top Ten Tuesday | Books That Made Me Cry

Top Ten Tuesday (13).png

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

The rules are simple:

  • Each Tuesday, Jana assigns a new topic. Create your own Top Ten list that fits that topic – putting your unique spin on it if you want.
  • Everyone is welcome to join but please link back to The Artsy Reader Girl in your own Top Ten Tuesday post.
  • Add your name to the Linky widget on that day’s post so that everyone can check out other bloggers’ lists.
  • Or if you don’t have a blog, just post your answers as a comment.

I am not a sad crier. I am an angry crier, which can be confusing and also disconcerting when I show no emotion at sad things. However, I am capable. Here is a list of books that at least made my eyes well up.

  1. Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo
  2. The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller
  3. The City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty
  4. Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare
  5. Romanov by Nadine Brandes
  6. Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor
  7. Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas
  8. Illuminae by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman

  1. I cry watching movies ALL THE TIME, but it’s rare that I cry while reading. Two books made me actually burst into tears recently: Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck and Everything I Know About Love by Dolly Alderton.

  2. I think it was Gemina that made me a little weepy…but I’m sure Illuminae got me teary-eyed too at some point! Lol. OMG Crooked Kingdom was the biggest tearjerker of Leigh’s books to date for me. I still need to read King of Scars…just waiting for the last book in its duology to binge read for a saner reader! Lol.

I remember one book that made me cry because the “fake” dog died saving the not-owner. The heroine was in an alternate universe that wasn’t really real, but the dog there died saving her…even though her real dog was just fine at home. I was still an emotional wreck over that one!

    Here’s my Tuesday Post

    Have a GREAT day!
