Top Ten Tuesday | Books from my Favorite Genre

Top Ten Tuesday (9)

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

The rules are simple:

  • Each Tuesday, Jana assigns a new topic. Create your own Top Ten list that fits that topic – putting your unique spin on it if you want.
  • Everyone is welcome to join but please link back to The Artsy Reader Girl in your own Top Ten Tuesday post.
  • Add your name to the Linky widget on that day’s post so that everyone can check out other bloggers’ lists.
  • Or if you don’t have a blog, just post your answers as a comment.

I think it’s obvious that fantasy is my favorite genre. Using Kal’s spectacular spreadsheet, I have been keeping track of what I read and trying to adjust and incorporate new things… but who am I kidding? I’m trash for a good fantasy, followed closely by romance.

Here are my favorite fantasy books! In no particular order…

Queen of Shadows is my favorite book from my favorite series. I can relive the alleyway reunion scene forever.

Strange the Dreamer is just so magical. Lazlo is not your typical hero and just so adorable and charming. I mean, he broke his nose from a book falling on him…*hugs* But when he kicks into gear, everyone BACK UP.

It was hard to choose just one Shadowhunter book. But my introduction to grown-up Julian Blackthorn is important to document. Lady Midnight is where I fell in love.

City of Brass is a book that I just wish I could reread for the first time again. It is hilarious and heartbreaking and just gorgeous.

I feel like Roar ran under the radar for a long time, but the sequel Rage is coming out soon and I’m insanely excited! Romance and magic and a girl taking charge! You can add Rage on Goodreads here.

I’m obsessed with Kingsbane lately. This book hasn’t left my head for over 2 weeks so I guess I’m living like Rielle with someone in her head constantly. I’m having epiphanies and putting things together still, so I know I’m going to have to reread this baby.

Nevernight is my favorite stabby book. Jay Kristoff blows me away with his talent. This series is the most intricate and intense reading experience. Plus, lots of blood.

I need to finish the Shades of Magic series, but Kell and Lilah are my favorites. Sassy and smart, they are my favorite duo!

I wasn’t going to do it. I swear, I was going to stop with one SJM book. But ACOMAF is SOOO GOOD. Since the first in the series is extremely mediocre, this book slays every time.

I cannot leave a fantasy list with out my main fuckboy Elias. Yes, he spends most of his days staring at girls, but he does at least get some shit done. And Helene? Badass to the extreme and girlcrush forever…That is if you like shiny makeup…

Hope you enjoyed that nonsense? Let us know what you thought in the comments!

  1. Your pie chart is so damn aesthetically pleasing, I love it??? It’s like a really neat hourglass motif and it is so balanced looking. (also thanks for linking to my spreadsheet post!)

I really need to read City of Brass soon, I own a copy and haven’t gotten around to it yet.. but considering how frequently you bring it up I am sure I will devour it soon. Also KINGSBANE ❤
