Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
The rules are simple:
- Each Tuesday, Jana assigns a new topic. Create your own Top Ten list that fits that topic – putting your unique spin on it if you want.
- Everyone is welcome to join but please link back to The Artsy Reader Girl in your own Top Ten Tuesday post.
- Add your name to the Linky widget on that day’s post so that everyone can check out other bloggers’ lists.
- Or if you don’t have a blog, just post your answers as a comment.
Best books… It’s so hard to narrow that down when you have read so many amazing books. I’m going to go year by year with publishing dates to narrow that down.
2019
So far, my favorite book published this year is Kingsbane by Claire Legrand. I’m still obsessing over this book.
2018
No surprise, 2018 goes to Kingdom of Ash. This is my favorite series of all time and that was a hell of an ending.
2017
Lazlo!!!! Strange the Dreamer wins all of 2017 and Lazlo wins my heart.
2016
And winning by a landslide is Rhysand!
2015
Taking a turn out of YA fantasy for a second. The Girl on the Train is the creepy thriller I desperately needed after Gone Girl.
2014
I didn’t want to repeat a series, but Heir of Fire is going to win this one…
2013
The ending to this series hurt and healed me. BRB while I go cry…
2012
Ahhh the year of Gone Girl. My stabby heart is happy.
2011
My queen Laini Taylor takes this year. Angels and Chimera fighting in a secret world? Evil angel and girls with blue hair? Let me at this!
2010
Back to where this all began. Or the end of it at least. Dystopia at it’s finest and heartbreak for years. IT’S REAL PEETA!!!
Hope you enjoyed that nonsense? Let us know what you thought in the comments!

Great list! I read and enjoyed the Strange the Dreamer duology this year, so I really need to go back and check out Laini Taylor’s earlier work. 🙂

I’ve read many of these, and I completely understand why they made your list. Nice choices!

Yes, I love this theme! Mine for 2014 would have been We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves by Karen Joy Fowler – it is SO UNDERRATED, and I use any opportunity I can to bring it up, in the hopes that more people might read it and love it the way that I did 😉👍
