Review
Christina Lauren books are usually a go-to read for when i’m in a slump. This was not that book. I just didn’t feel the fire from Evie and Carter.
It was cute.
I didn’t take a single note.
I almost immediately forgot about this book.
Evie and Carter find themselves fighting for the same position at her company after a merger. They are both so likeable that they don’t make for a great fight. It was set up similar to The Hating Game, but was nothing like that. Instead of enemies to lovers it ended up more like friends to kinda disliking a thing they did.
They do end up pulling pranks which were hilarious. Glitter-bombs in cars always give me a laugh. And the steam is on-point. This duo never hold back on the heat.
Their asshole boss I will not forget. That guy was a misogynistic piece of crap and needed to GO. I understand Carter’s hesitancy to speak up, but someone needed to. It was almost too much and super obvious that the guy was into shady dealings. We all need a villain though.
My problem was that I have loved so many Christina Lauren books, this one just missed the spot.

I haven’t read this one because I always have a love/hate with Christina Lauren books it seems. The last one I read and enjoyed was Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating.

Great review! I’m sorry this was a miss for you! I haven’t read it yet but I recently finished their The Unhoneymooners and really loved it!

I have loved so many of their books, it was disappointing to find one that I didn’t love. I’m looking forward to The Unhoneymooners!

Oh no, I am sorry this one missed the mark for you! It is always so disappointing when authors that you typically love write a book you don’t connect with.
