Thank you to Siobhan who so lovingly tagged me in this impossible task. I really thought we were friends too!
One Major Rule
You have to pick ONE GENRE that you frequently read about and then you can’t use ANY books from that genre while answering the questions!
This is going to be difficult. And possibly boring… but here we go. I also have to ditch my YA fantasy because stats don’t lie and I read a LOT of YA fantasy.
A book that is an exception when it comes to genres or elements you don’t typically like
I HATE when characters die and are brought back to life. Some of my favorite characters are still alive today because of that, but it just drives me insane.
Regardless, in The Scribe I NEEDED the character back. It hurt so much.
A book you enjoyed from a genre you previously held some stigma against
I used to never read thrillers because I don’t do scary well. I was obsessed with Gone Girl and everything else Gillian Flynn wrote when it came out. Now I still love thrillers!
A book you didn’t know was out of your comfort zone until you started reading it
The Language of Flowers was a gorgeous book, but WOW was it intense. There were a lot of issues going on with the protagonist that made me very concerned about her mental state. Just having a baby on your own at home and not telling a single person… I was uncomfortable, but I’m glad that I read this.
Pick a friend who motivates you to pick up books you might not normally be interested in—is there a book they convinced you to give a try?
Dev @readbydev is always telling me to read horror and sci-fi, and I am carefully searching for some horror I may enjoy (it’s not going well) and have a sci-fi on the book next!
A book that is out of your comfort zone, but you would like to read
A friend recently gave my S. by JJ Abrams and Doug Dorst. I have no idea what to expect other than a mystery, but it looks so cool! There are notes and postcards etc. throughout the pages to read as clues!
A book or genre so outside of your comfort zone that you’ll probably never give it a chance
I’ll be real honest, i’m not reading this. Ever. I don’t do dead animals.

Ooooh, what a great idea for a tag! And The Language Of Flowers sounds really interesting, I’m in the mood for a really intense/confrontational book. This must’ve been tough, but you did well! 😉👍🏼
