Maddie’s Questions
What is the oldest book on your TBR or GoodReads list? How long has it been on there?
T- The Partials by Dan Wells has been on my Goodreads To-Read list since I started my Goodreads account 6 years ago. I even own it and haven’t read it. #Fail
J – Corelli’s Mandolin by Louis de Bernieres. I actually love reading classics and am slowly making my way through.
What was the last book you had to DNF?
T – I DNF’d Fury by Laurann Dohnner and made Jess finish it. It was too rape-y for me and I couldn’t do it.
J – The Kingdom of Exiles by SB Nova. Teagan finished this one because I just couldn’t with the MC and unnecessary drama.
What is your favourite literary trope?
T – Enemies to lovers, always. Unless there has been some really grave sins committed by either side of the equation. Some things I can’t get over and condone a relationship.
J – Is a good anti-hero a trope? I don’t care, I love anti heroes and unreliable narrators.
If you’re favourite character (from fiction, TV, or movies) invited you over for a dinner date, what would they make you for dinner?
T – I doubt Buffy’s culinary skills are… great… but hopefully she wouldn’t be able to mess up steak tacos too badly?!
J – Damon Salvatore is a vampire so I’m not sure I would want him to make me anything. But he could order in and I would be cool with it.
Do you re-read books? What was the last book you re-read?
T – I absolutely reread books! It’s super therapeutic and sometimes you need the familiarity of a favorite story or characters. I just reread A Court of Mist and Fury and it was just as marvelous as the last 1,000 times I’ve read it.
J – I just reread A Court of Mist and Fury. I’m not as obsessed as Teagan, but you can’t beat that one.
You have a bracelet of with 5 pearls on it. Each pearl is worth one very small mundane wish (Daughter of Smoke and Bone reference :P), what five mundane wishes would you make with those pearls?
T – Like Karou, I have the tendency to be a bit petty and would use a wish to make my enemies itch. I’d also wish for constant perfectly painted nails, endless battery life for my iPad (kindle), hair that doesn’t tangle, and to be cat hair resistant.
J – To never have to fill up my gas tank. Sleeves of tattoos. Cell signal anywhere. Eyeliner that never smudges (although amazon clay works pretty well). And for dogs to be allowed everywhere regardless of whether or not they are service animals.

Bahaha, you guys are awesome.
I agree with T on the itch thing! I’d waste a lot of pearls during driving and work. I wonder if I can wish it through emails…
And Jess – sleeves of tattoos! Brilliant! And it would be cool to change them on a whim and to be painless with zero gross healing time!
Thank you for the shout out, and lovely answers!!

So with you on dogs being allowed anywhere. I think I’d go with no dog allergies? Then everyone could have a dog 😉

Umm why didn’t we think of that?? #Brilliant!

Hahahaha yeah she’d probably have to have Willow save the day on those tacos, huh? It’d be fun to witness!

Oh gosh, how on earth could I narrow it down?? 😂 Vanity Fair wasn’t a great read but I *loved* the anti-heroine Becky Sharp. I also (despite myself) really liked Alexander Portnoy of Philip Roth’s Portnoy’s Complaint, which I read just recently for the first time. And (I hope I don’t sound like a pretentious a-hole) but I also love Raskolnikov from Crime & Punishment – he’s a big ol’ ball of anxiety, and I found him super-relatable somehow (aside from the whole axe-murderer thing) 😂 Sorry I don’t have many “new” suggestions, I’m on a bit of a kick working my way through classics at the moment!

I love Crime and Punishment! I went through a period where I only read Russian literature and that was by far my favorite!

Enemies to lovers 4everrrrr! Also never having to fill your gas tank is GENIUS – a bet a lot of our MCs would wish for this too when they’re trying to make escapes from the bad guys lol. Thanks for the tag!
