Spring Cleaning Tag
It’s time to make your bed, but you’re going to have some friends over later and want to pick the perfect book to place on your nightstand for them all to see that you’re “reading”. Which book do you choose?
T – Probably A Song of Fire and Ice because all my friends are nerds and they think I’ve read the books when really I’m an impostor who has only seen the TV show.
J – In Cold Blood. I am pretty infatuated with true crime lately and this one is bound to stir up some conversation.
Oh no! The house needs dusting, but you just can’t put that book you’re reading down! What book would you buy on audio just so you could continue the story while cleaning?
T – My first audiobook purchase ever was A Court of Mist and Fury because I couldn’t put it down but had to drive 4 hours to St. Louis once. I’d pick it for any situation though; driving, cleaning, work, you name it, Rhys is my choice.
J – Guys, I can’t do audio books. I have tried so many times. Nope. I will listen to My Favorite Murder podcast.
Darn it! The ceiling is leaking! Turns out Mass-Market Paperbacks are the best things to soak water up! Which popular book do you use to soak up the water?
T – Probably one of my Outlander books because they’ve hurt me so much that they need to be removed from my life.
J – Can I throw my husbands Rap Yearbook on that? It’s ridiculous.
Bathrooms need a good scrubbing, and your 2007 Cosmos are a little outdated and need replacing. What book do you place in the bathroom for some light reading for when people need to take care of business?
T – Yes Please by Amy Poehler because Amy is amazeballs and everyone should read her book.
J – I don’t want people reading books in my bathroom. It squiks me out. They can dirty up their own phone if they need entertainment.
Family is coming over, but you have no idea what to make for dinner! You read somewhere that tearing up the last chapter of a book whose ending you hated and sprinkling it in a casserole dish makes for the perfect meal! Which book do you choose?
T – Wow, this is weird. Okay…. Um I guess I would tear up the ending to King Hall because ouch that one hurt me. My heart still hasn’t recovered.
J – Allegiant. That just didn’t fit with the overall plot and served no purpose. I was irritated about the random narration change through the entire book and then realized why at the end.
Organization is key, right? When it comes time to organize your bookshelf, you realize you have enough room (and money) to get three new books! Which books do you buy?
T – Spinning Silver, Dance of Thieves, and Queen of Air and Darkness were easy picks for me. They’re just sitting in my Amazon cart waiting for me to pre-order them and give them a good home.
J – Just bought two yesterday. Strange the Dreamer and Caraval. I am behind, I know. I think I would pre-order both of the sequels as well because they are so pretty.
Finally, some peace and quiet! But, before you can relax, you realize you forgot to send your Aunt a thank you gift for the lovely “ADULT LIFE FOR DUMMIES” book she gave you for Christmas (maybe she’s trying to tell you something?). What book do you send to her to show her how much (this is sarcasm) you appreciate her gift?
T – Definitely The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck by Mark Manson.
J – My husbands soaking wet copy of The Rap Yearbook.

YES! I’m so excited to answer these!! And perhaps make a book paper casserole??? 😂 I completely agree about Outlander (although I’ve seen the show more than the books) and don’t EVEN get me started on the Divergent series. Ugh. Great post ladies!!

Omg I lol’ed so hard! that rap yearbook ahhhh. also i will NEVER be over what an awful book Allegiant was – just WHYYYYYY all of it was so unnecessary in so many ways. Also dying for Spinning Silver and Queen of Air and Darkness. Also, v proud of myself that I actually have read all the Song of Ice and Fire series, though it definitely took me ages.

Super impressed that you made it through all of that series! That’s amazing.

I know right?? back when my husband and I first started dating he was telling me about how he read the series and then we found out that HBO was just about to make the show and I was like pfftt lemme read it and so he gave me the first 4 for my 21st birthday and then the 5th book came out that same summer so I went to a book signing and got him the 5th and then I’m pretty sure it took me like… until i was 25? to read all 5. I think the alternating characters and POV every chapter was just exhausting for me. But I guess for him and others that helps them read faster??? I don’t understand lol

I have a pretty good memory and I ended up with a notepad reading the first one so that I could keep everything straight!

Oo, fun tag, thanks for me tagging me. 🤗 A Song of Ice and Fire will be a perfect conversation starter. I think I’ll soak Outlander for other reasons.

These answers were so amazing!!! The Rap Year book ahahaha!!
And I started Outlander mid-semester last year and just had to put it down. I’m contemplating whether or not I should continue. The entire series is just such a monster; it intimidates me, haha.
Anyway, thanks for doing the tag!! 🙂

Lol!!! I read the first three GOT books and abandoned it for the tv show. That was very wise choice in my opinion. I dont like audiobooks either. I just zone out in the middle and when I come back half the narration is over 🙈

Hahaha yeah you definitely have to keep up with the audiobook narration or suddenly a character is dead and you have no idea how/why!
